Georgetown
Phase One of the Georgetown Drainage Improvement & Roadway Project will create a new trunk line to carry stormwater to Lake Monroe. This will reduce flooding within the Georgetown Community. It will also reduce the amount of runoff that currently goes into the Pump Branch system and the Mellonville Avenue System, allowing improved operation of both. Installation of the drainage system impacts the roads so we are going to include curb & gutter, sidewalks and landscaping improvements as we go.
The contractor, CFE Corp., has received his Notice To Proceed for acquiring drainage structures and concrete pipe. Due to supply chain issues the lead time for these items is two to three months. A second Notice to Proceed (NTP) will be issued after the bulk of the materials have been delivered. This NTP will initiate the start of construction. The contractor is working on a detailed schedule now subject to delivery dates. Our Engineering consultant is planning a second community outreach meeting that will include City Staff and the Contractor to occur in late March or April 2023.
Subsequent phases of the project will start construction close to the prior phase completion so the overall project will appear to be seamless. Phase Two design is starting up now.
