After-School Programming
A Safe, Fun, and Enriching Experience for Your Child!
The City of Sanford offers an after-school program designed to keep your child engaged, active, and learning with exciting activities like sports, cultural arts, and tutoring! Our program ensures your child’s time is productive and enjoyable while encouraging creativity, teamwork, and personal development.

Youth Baseball
2025 District 4 All-Star Champions!!!
The City of Sanford Parks and Recreation Department offers youth baseball leagues for the Spring and Fall seasons. Whether your child is just starting out or looking to build on their skills, we have a division for everyone!
Divisions:
- Cal Ripken Division (Ages 4-12)
- Babe Ruth Division (Ages 13-18).
Leagues are Co-Ed and Games are played at:
- Herbert “Whitey” Eckstein – Chase Park (1500 Celery Avenue)
- Historic Sanford Memorial Stadium (1201 S. Mellonville Avenue)
- Zinn Beck Field (1201 S. Mellonville Avenue)
Swim Lessons at the Larry A. Dale Aquatic Center
Swim Lessons: Quick Facts
- Sessions: Two weeks in length, seven or eight sessions total, Monday through Thursday
- Time/Ratio: 30-40 minutes, 8 students per class
- Cost: $40 for a two week session

Youth Basketball
🏀 Join the Jr. Magic Youth Basketball League! 🏀
The Parks and Recreation Department invites all young athletes to participate in our co-ed Youth Basketball League this fall/winter season! As a proud Jr. Magic Partner, this league provides children aged 5 to 14 the opportunity to develop basketball skills in a fun, supportive, and safe environment. Registration starts on October 1st until filled, Skills and Drills begin in November and the season runs from December to February. Cost is $50 per player for the 6-week league.
Program Highlights:
- Skill Development: We teach the fundamentals – shooting, passing, dribbling, and basic game strategies while emphasizing teamwork and sportsmanship.
- Clinics & Coaching: Special clinics ensure our athletes receive the guidance they need to grow.
- Game Days: Four age divisions, each with dedicated game days throughout the week:
- Biddy Ball: Ages 5-6
- Prep Ball: Ages 7-9
- Juniors: Ages 10-11
- Seniors: Ages 12-14
- Season Dates: November 2026 – February 2027
- Location: Dr. Velma H. Williams Westside Community Center at 919 S. Persimmon Avenue.
- Cost: $40 per player
- Bonus!: Each registered child receives an Orlando Magic ball and a ticket to attend a selected game.
Youth Flag Football
🏈 Play. Learn. Compete. 🏈
The Parks and Recreation Department’s Youth Flag Football League is for kids ages 5-14 and is designed to provide a fun, instructional experience that helps young athletes develop basic Flag Football skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
League Details:
- Registration Period: May 27th, 2026 – August 26th, 2026 (or until full).
- Age Divisions: 5-8, 9-11, and 12-14.
- Registration fee: $50 (includes Jersey).
- Season Kickoff / 1st Game: Saturday, September 26, 2026 , at the Jeff Triplett Community Center fields at the Tim Raines Sports Park.
- Practices: Will be scheduled by volunteer coaches and begin three weeks prior to game day.

Youth Soccer

The Parks and Recreation Department’s Youth Soccer League is for kids ages 4-10 and is designed to provide a fun, instructional experience that helps young athletes develop basic soccer skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
League Details:
- Registration Period: May 27th, 2026 – August 26th, 2026 (or until full)
- Registration fee: $50.
- Age Divisions: 4-6, 7-8, and 9-10 years old.
- Game Days: Saturday mornings starting Saturday, September 26th, 2026, at the Jeff Triplett Community Center fields at the Tim Raines Sports Park.
- Game Format: Instructional & Fun! The Season consists of 7 games. League is five-on-five, without a goalie, with two (2), twenty-minute halves allowing for more “touch time” with the ball and creating an opportunity for kids to actively engage in the game.
- Practices: Will be scheduled by volunteer coaches and begin three weeks prior to game day.

The International Soap Box Derby® is a non-profit youth education and leadership development organization whose mission is to build knowledge and character, and to create meaningful experiences through collaboration, fair and honest racing competitions, STEM curriculum, and other community-focused activities.
