Police Officer applicants MUST:

  • Be at least 21 years of age
  • Be a citizen of the United States
  • Have high school diploma or equivalency
  • Enrolled or have successfully completed Florida Police Standards Training
  • Be in good physical condition
  • 20/40 corrected vision
  • Honorable Armed Forces Discharge (if applicable)
  • Meet Drug Usage Standards / Pass Drug Screen
  • Be in compliance with City of Sanford’s Tobacco Abstention Policy of one year

Police Officer Cadet applicants MUST:

  • Be at least 21 years of age by the time of swearing in
  • Be a citizen of the United States
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalency
  • Be able to meet all conditions and expectations set forth by Florida Police Standards Training
  • Be in good physical condition
  • 20/40 corrected vision
  • Honorable Armed Forces Discharge (if applicable)
  • Meet Drug Usage Standards / Pass Drug Screen

Police Officer Salary:

Cadet – $17.00 per hour

Sworn – $22.76 – $35.77 per hour $49,720 – $79,998.20 annually

Annual City Incentives:

Associate Degree – $500

Bachelor Degree – $1000

Masters Degree – $1500

Annual State Incentives:

Associate Degree or 60 hours – $360
Bachelor Degree or 120 hours  – $960
Max Annual State Educational – $1560
