Police Officer applicants MUST:
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Have high school diploma or equivalency
- Enrolled or have successfully completed Florida Police Standards Training
- Be in good physical condition
- 20/40 corrected vision
- Honorable Armed Forces Discharge (if applicable)
- Meet Drug Usage Standards / Pass Drug Screen
- Be in compliance with City of Sanford’s Tobacco Abstention Policy of one year
Police Officer Cadet applicants MUST:
- Be at least 21 years of age by the time of swearing in
- Be a citizen of the United States
- Have a high school diploma or equivalency
- Be able to meet all conditions and expectations set forth by Florida Police Standards Training
- Be in good physical condition
- 20/40 corrected vision
- Honorable Armed Forces Discharge (if applicable)
- Meet Drug Usage Standards / Pass Drug Screen
All City of Sanford and Sanford Police Department applications must be submitted to the Human Resources Department.

Police Officer Salary:
Starting Sworn -$58,000 annually
Cadet – $20.00 per hour
Annual City Incentives:
Associate Degree – $500
Bachelor Degree – $1000
Masters Degree – $1500
Annual State Incentives:
Associate Degree or 60 hours – $360
Bachelor Degree or 120 hours – $960
