North Water Reclamation Facility has arrived and has been Installed.

The City of Sanford announces the permanent replacement component needed at the North Water Reclamation Facility has arrived and has been installed.
This specialized component replaces the temporary system that has been in place while the city worked with the manufacturer to expedite delivery. The new equipment will significantly enhance the plant’s odor-mitigation performance and restore the facility to its intended operating standards.
“Over the past several weeks, we know that many residents have experienced frustration related to odors from the facility,” Norton Bonaparte, City Manager said. “We take this issue seriously, and we are committed to learning from this experience. Moving forward, our teams are strengthening internal processes, improving communication, and taking proactive steps to prevent similar challenges.”
Public Works and Utilities Director, Brynt Johnson, noted the importance of the new part and the work underway. “This equipment is essential to the facility’s odor control system,” the Director said. Residents should expect a noticeable improvement as the system stabilizes.”
To ensure transparency, the city is also releasing a brief behind the scenes video documenting the installation. This footage offers the community a clear look at the steps being taken to resolve the issue as quickly and thoroughly as possible.
The City has taken several actions in recent weeks, including:
• Implementing interim operational measures to reduce odors while awaiting the permanent part.
• Engaging directly with the community sharing regular status updates by way of social media, the city’s website and even producing an informational video podcast with Brynt Johnson and the Richie Casella, Plants Manager, available on the city’s You Tube channel.
We appreciate the public’s patience. The comfort and trust of our community remain top priorities.
