Sanford Soundstage: Where Government and Creativity Merge

The City of Sanford proudly presents Sanford Soundstage, a new initiative bringing live, intimate musical performances to City Hall. Inspired by nationally popular “desk-style” series, Sanford Soundstage highlights local and regional talent while showing how City government can support the arts and cultural engagement.

Performances feature live music and short artist interviews, shared across YouTube, the Sanford Says podcast, Facebook, Instagram, and the City’s newsletter, The Clockwork Chronicle. Musicians are selected for talent, originality, and local connection, performing pro-bono to promote Sanford’s music scene. Artists gain exposure, professional video content, and the chance to be part of a high-profile City initiative celebrating local culture.

Sanford Soundstage Episode 1: Seminole State College

The inaugural session, held October 16, featured jazz musicians from Seminole State College’s Music Department, offering a preview of their free Jazz Fall Night concert at The Ritz Theater. Recordings take place in the City’s Communications Office, with a limited number of City employees invited to view.

“Sanford Soundstage is an exciting example of how local government can support the arts while engaging our community,” said Mayor Art Woodruff. “We’re celebrating creativity and strengthening the cultural vitality of our City.”

“Our students are thrilled to perform for Sanford Soundstage’s debut,” said Dr. Michele Cuomo, Dean of Arts and Communications, Seminole State College.

Monthly Sanford Soundstage recordings will continue, bringing more local talent to the community and demonstrating how government and creativity can come together to enrich Sanford’s cultural life.
