Neighborhood Tree Trimming Schedule: Summer 2026

The City of Sanford Public Works Department is committed to keeping our community safe, beautiful, and accessible. Beginning June 29, 2026, the City’s contracted vendor, A Budget Tree Service, will begin a comprehensive tree care initiative to clear public right-of-ways.

This proactive maintenance ensures that emergency vehicles can navigate our streets without obstruction and that public sidewalks remain completely safe for pedestrians.

📐 Trimming & Clearance Standards

Crews will be utilizing proper arbor practices to elevate tree canopies to meet city safety codes:

  • Streets & Vehicle Ways: Trees will be trimmed to a height of 17 feet to clear the way for fire trucks, ambulances, and waste management vehicles.

  • Public Sidewalks: Canopies will be trimmed to a height of 9 feet to ensure a clear path for walkers, runners, and strollers.

Note for Property Owners: Trimming will only be performed to the extent reasonably necessary to reach these required elevations. Because branches grow over public spaces, trimming may occasionally occur just beyond the precise city right-of-way line and onto the edge of personal property.
