Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebration – Honoring Dr. King’s Legacy!  

Join us on Monday, January 20th from 10 AM – 4 PM to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with this year’s theme: “Men of the Movement: Charting A Path Forward.”  

The day begins with a 10 AM Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade along Historic Goldsboro Boulevard, from Persimmon Avenue to South Holly Avenue.  The parade is expected to draw 2,500 spectators and is a highlight of the day. It features a diverse and vibrant lineup of local school bands, dancers, flag bearers, community groups, and more.

Following the parade, at 11 AM, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Festival in the Park will begin downtown at 221 N. Palmetto Avenue (near the Sanford Civic Center).  This family-friendly event will offer entertainment, inspirational speakers, a talent show, children’s activities, food, and a variety of cultural, handmade, and artistic vendors from 11 AM until 4 PM.
