LIHEAP Educational Outreach

The City of Sanford’s Low Income Household Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) Division invites you to participate in our upcoming LIHEAP outreach event. This initiative aims to educate families on vital topics such as energy conservation, energy-saving practices, and sustainability.

At this event, you will have the opportunity to meet the City of Sanford LIHEAP employees and hear from our Special Guest Speaker, Melvin Philpot. Mr. Philpot is a Products & Services Manager for Duke Energy in Lake Mary with a 42-year career specializing in energy efficiency. As a distinguished community leader in Sanford, he will discuss the importance of energy conservation and saving.

The primary goal of this event is to assist low-income families with their electric bills. The first 75 City of Sanford and Seminole County residents who fill out an application will receive an appointment with a LIHEAP staff member to complete the application process.

What is the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)?

The Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) is a federally funded initiative that helps low-income households manage their home energy bills through three types of assistance. The City of Sanford administers this program for Seminole County residents. Eligibility is determined based on household size and income, which must not exceed 150% of the federal poverty guidelines.

We invite you to join us for this significant event and encourage you to share the news with your family, friends, and neighbors!
